Our Five Pillars of Ministry
Worship
A dynamic experience of worship focused on the love of God and His work of redemption through Christ on the cross. |
Fellowship
A gathering of both believers and non-believers which receives relevant Biblical teachings that transform lives. |
Evangelism
A proclamation of the Gospel with truth, love, and clarity to those who have not heard of Jesus Christ nor accepted Him as Lord and Savior. |
Discipleship
A call to a continued discipleship that challenges everybody (believers and non-believers) to the next level in their journey toward spiritual maturity in Christ by focusing on teachings that have real-life applications. |
Ministry
An innovative, effective and global ministry providing opportunities to every person to serve according to their individual gifts and calling by stewardship of time, talent, and treasure. |
Our History
Indonesian Baptist Church was the first Indonesian Church in the United States. It was established by Rev. T. A. Thio as a mission church in 1978 that aimed to serve the Indonesian community in Bay Area. On May 2, 1981, Indonesian Baptist Church officially became an independent church, and held its first service on South Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, California at Primera Iglesia Bautista. In 2001, we saw the need to expand our service to an English-speaking congregation. With that in mind, Indonesian Baptist Church decided to change its name to Life Change Baptist Church (LCBC) in January of 2005. This decision was nothing less than accepting a bigger responsibility from God to serve more than merely the Indonesian community and keeping our doors open as we trust and obey him.
Since then, LCBC has relocated multiple times, but none could be called a permanent home. We prayed and collected funds, and, in September 19. 2005, we were able to purchase our very own building in San Leandro, California from Aurora Baptist Church. Our first service in our new building was held on November 6 of that year. God is great. His blessing is abundant for those who serve Him wholeheartedly. In April 2006, just several months after having our own building, LCBC started a new ministry in Chinese. This twice-a-month service became a regular weekly Sunday Service in January 2007. Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in the Bay Area is quite challenging, but nothing is impossible through Christ who strengthens us. We will continue to press forward in the name of Christ and for His Gospel. We are excited about the possibilities God will provide us as our family continue to grow. Please continue to support and pray for us.
